Identification of Asmaka as Sravanabelgola and Aryabhata as a Jain Astronomer

Aryabhata is criticized by Brahmagupta severely for contradicting the Yuga-Manvatara-Kalpa notions given in Srutis and Smrtis. Discussion in the attached paper brings out the fact that Aryabhata was a Jain Astronomer of the South Indian Jain country Asmaka centered over Sravanabelgola and extending to North Kerala where still the remnants of Jain tradition are immensely visible. Bharata-puzha the longest river of Kerala is named after Bharata, the legendary emperor of Jains (one of the two sons of Rshabha Deva) and the deity worshiped at Chamravattam temple was originally the Bahubali of Jain.
